Spiritual Direction

Conferences can be inspiring, exciting, profound and filled with God's activity. As spiritual directors we want to provide a quiet, prayerful space for you to notice, reflect and discern how God might be inviting you to respond. We invite you to have a one to one conversation with one of us.

What is it?

In a word, spiritual direction is co-discernment. Our role as directors is to co-discern with you--to be attentive to you, listening for the movement of God in your life. We create prayerful conversational spaces, with no rush to fix, teach, advise or give opinions. We simply begin with where you are presently and how you are experiencing God’s presence or action in your life at this time. We will accompany you through prayerful listening, questions and contemplative prayer. You are free to share whatever feels most important to you at this time: desires, recent experiences of God, questions for God, or other emotions/interior movements (like ardour or despondency, peace or anxiety, joy or sorrow). All our directors received their training through Sustainable Faith’s School of Spiritual Direction (sustainablefaith.co.uk)

Reflection Exercise & Preparation

Below are some questions you may find helpful to reflect on before your spiritual direction session. There might be one question that stands out to you that you'd like to begin with.

  • What are you presently longing for?

  • What word or picture have you received recently (that resonated deeply) that you would like to explore further?

  • What are some of the new ways you are experiencing God lately?

  • In what normal, everyday experiences in your life are you most experiencing God's presence?

  • In what ways are you struggling to see what God is doing? Are there ways that God feels absent?

  • In what ways are you experiencing frustration or difficulty in your life or ministry?

  • What is God bringing to your attention these days?

  • What areas of your life are you presently discerning?

  • In what ways is God inviting you to slow down?

  • What questions are you presently holding before God?
